WEDDING FLORAL CHECKLIST

We’re a bit biased, but we think florals play a huge part in making a wedding day one you’ll always treasure. Fresh flowers bring color, romance, fragrance, beauty and add that something special to a space to make it memorable for all of your senses. Whether you are in a back yard, a brewery or a mansion, great wedding florals are all about the details! So during our consultation appointments we’ll likely ask you about the venues, wedding party attire, your color palette, desired vibe of the event and of course your favorite flowers. But it’s also helpful to know who, and what spaces, need florals! Use the guide below to start thinking about how your list shapes up.

Personal Floral

Bouquets

The Bridal bouquet is often the single most important piece of the floral order, we draw all of our wedding floral inspiration from it. It’s the coolest gift to yourself and our favorite thing to create! When you think about your bouquets consider what sizes and shapes you prefer. Something dainty and round, or large and cascading? Consider what colors you’d like to see included; mostly color, half white and half color, mostly white with a hint of color, etc. Do you like to see a lot of foliage in a loose wildflowery design or do you prefer a tighter, compact look with little to no foliage? Are there any blooms that are a must include, or a please don’t include?

Ceremony

Your unique ceremony location will play a factor in what floral decor you can/should, display for the I dos.  If the space is elaborate, has walls of stained glass or is stunningly picturesque, maybe you don’t need to do too much at the altar. If the space is more neutral and needs a real focal point, perhaps you go for that freestanding flower wall or rose covered arch! Either way, we want to find a way to reuse your ceremony florals for the reception! So as you consider what arrangements you want to see for the altar and aisle, think about how they can also decorate the reception space. The Head Table, Bars, Accent Tables are all good options.

Reception

The reception is where the majority of your guests will spend their time, so it’s where we like to really make a big impact. Aside from repurposing some ceremony arrangements you can add a lot of interest to the space in many fun and interesting ways. Centerpieces are often a large portion of the floral order so they’re important to think about early. Do you like a lot of candles with a touch of fresh foliage, a low lush arrangement in a gold vase, or an elevated design with mounded blooms? You can consider mixing and matching several designs, or sticking to a single design. Also be sure to check with your venue as they may provide décor, or have restrictions on what is permitted.
